The American Heart Association has set a bold three-year goal to achieve 75% blood pressure control equally across all participating clinics and health centers that adopt evidence-based blood pressure guidelines in Washington state. The vision is to make attaining healthy blood pressure accessible regardless of whether you obtain services through a health system, federally qualified health center or community clinic. It’s a significant stride toward reducing health disparities in our state. As we celebrate a century of progress against cardiovascular disease, the American Heart Association is hosting a Hypertension Summit to convene health care leaders and others motivated to improve hypertension control in Washington State. The intended audience is physicians and medical leadership, nursing leaders, quality directors, and leaders from non-government, government, and other public health or community health organizations. The purpose of the Summit is to share best practices, innovations and ideas for blood pressure prevention, treatment and control in Washington. We aim to assemble leaders from health care and public health sectors to discuss and exchange ideas on effectively addressing hypertension within our individual health care systems and collectively as a community.
